Modular
Project Management® (1 - 20 days)
Our modular program allows you to custom-develop your own curriculum.
See our separate brochure for more information on this offering. Three
of the practitioner's Learning experiences on this site are special pre-packaged
sequences from our Modular Project Management program. See our Modular Project Management
curriculum, consisting of 20 selectable modules.
Portfolio Management:
Aligning Programs and Projects with Enterprise Strategy (2 days)
Today’s most successful organizations are rapidly moving to a Project-Oriented-Enterprise approach, yet projects and programs often remain as their least-certain area of investment. This session is consistent with the PM Institute’s Portfolio standard, and with the IPMA Competence Baseline, while applying the methods and insights we have provided Enterprises and Consultancies since 1985 through our Project Portfolio Management consulting services. See our Portfolio Management outline
Project Management (4 days)
Improve success in today's projects by improving skills in Project Management
techniques, while building trust and improving communication. We
recommend this Learning experience as a prerequisite to any quality improvement program
(such as Total Quality Management). It includes application of a
case study that provides practical experience with each project management
technique. See our Project Management Outline.
Intact
Team Experience - Project ManagementSM
This special version of our general Project Management Learning experience combines
key customer and Information Technology team members in a session that
focuses on their current project. In addition to providing a common
structure, vocabulary and approach, the class builds a stronger team,
and often provides more project progress than if the participants were
not in class!
Project
Management Tools 'N Techniques® (3 days)
This three-day version of our project management Learning experience concentrates
on the tools and techniques that help the Project Manager achieve successful
projects. Case exercises emphasize low-effort, high information
value methods of planning, estimating, scheduling and tracking the activities
of a project. See our Project Management
Tools 'N Techniques Outline.
I.C.E. Increasing Communication Effectiveness (2 days)
Some people call them “soft skills”. They are more appropriately classified as “hard skills”, because they are difficult to master. No matter how great your technical skills, your effectiveness in communicating with others makes the most difference in whether you succeed or not.
And now, with distributed projects, offshore development teams, and increased need to communicate with all your bandwidth, these skills are more important to Project Managers and key team members than ever before. “ICE” your next presentation, or your next project with this Increasing Communication Effectiveness Learning experience. See our Increasing Communication Effectiveness Outline.
Especially For Information Technology
Managing Projects With THE GuideSM (3 days)
This Learning experience supports customers who have licensed THE Guide, our innovative
Project Management and Systems Engineering methodology. It applies the unique project management methods of THE Guide. The content is similar to our general Project Management topic, but expands emphasis on Initial Planning, and adds THE Guide's tools for improving project quality and accelerating the plan. The 3-day version concentrates on Minimum Initial Planning, and a 4-day version covers more advanced methods of all steps of Initial Planning, including Risk Assessment and Risk Management, Cost-Benefit Analysis, and other key topics. Both versions are best applied to your own current projects. See the Managing Projects With THE Guide Outline.
Software
Cost EstimatingSM (2 or 3 days)
Before you can manage a project, you must estimate it. The better the
estimates, the better will be your ability as Project Manager to plan
and schedule project tasks. This Learning experience provides hands-on application
of statistical and algorithmic approaches to early project estimating.
Of special note are several optional modules in this session, including
an introduction to Results-Oriented, or Product Point Estimating. See the Software Cost Estimating
Outline.
